Pauls Pokratnieks is a Latvian jazz drummer and composer whose playing reflects both a deep respect for the jazz tradition and a strong individual musical voice. Performing with his trio, Pulse Trio, Pauls has developed a distinctive artistic identity that combines rhythmic sensitivity, melodic awareness, and an intuitive approach to ensemble playing.

His debut album with Pulse Trio, The End Is the Beginning, became one of the most streamed jazz albums in the Baltic States, establishing the group as a fresh and compelling presence in the region’s contemporary jazz scene. Their second album, Now Is All We Have, will be released on April 17.

Having studied music in the Netherlands and later lived and worked in Sweden, Pauls has shaped his musical language through diverse cultural influences and collaborations across Europe. He is currently performing in a jazz project aboard luxury cruise ships in the United States and the Caribbean Sea with Royal Caribbean International, continuing to expand his artistic voice while bringing jazz to audiences around the world.
